I power cycled the unit and noticed the red portion of the color was gone. I knew this was an indication of a hardware failure because the menus and settings were also affected.\r\n\r\nI called Samsung and they claimed my TV only had a 1 year warranty, I've had my set for 15 months. (Oddly I remember the salesman claiming that the light engine should last 20K hours). \r\n\r\nI did some research and found a trend with this type of failure. Samsung runs the red LED out of spec to get a more crisp image. \r\n\r\nWhy do I assume this? Only the red LED has its own fan.\r\n\r\nSolution\r\n------------\r\n\r\nI decided to purchase the part and repair my TV myself. \r\n\r\nSamsung HL-T5087SA Red LED Part number `BP07-00029A <http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?BP07-00023A>`_\r\n\r\nPhotos with captions of the repair\r\n---------------------------------------\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9VvWCYjI/AAAAAAAAAFg/mJ08rOtYK4Q/IMGA0070.JPG\r\n\r\nThis is the back of the TV.\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9WSDoKhI/AAAAAAAAAFg/xJnWaJwI2EI/IMGA0071.JPG\r\n\r\nThis is the front of the TV.\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9XE2vXII/AAAAAAAAAFg/f3T2WP3J2TE/IMGA0072.JPG\r\n\r\nRemove the screws that hold the bottom back plate on.\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9X0-zoRI/AAAAAAAAAFg/wy58nTpx9J8/IMGA0074.JPG\r\n\r\nThe screws look like that\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9YZT-2kI/AAAAAAAAAFg/WelvRI3Jnnc/IMGA0075.JPG\r\n\r\nThere are ten screws that hold the bottom back plate on.\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9Y1nl8yI/AAAAAAAAAFg/g6iO1gC81iI/IMGA0076.JPG\r\n\r\nNow you can see inside the TV.\r\n\r\n.. figure:: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9ZraBnaI/AAAAAAAAAFg/Grw5cbc2Ky0/IMGA0078.JPG\r\n\r\nYou need to remove the light engine.
