I reset the TV and when it cam on the red portion of the color was gone.  I knew the TV had a hardware failure because even the TV's menu and setting were missing the red color.\r\n\r\nI called Samsung and they claimed my TV only had a 1 year warranty, I've had my set for 15 months.  (Oddly I remember the salesman claiming that the light engine should last 20K hours)\r\nI did some research online and found a trend with this type of failure.  Turned out the failure was related to the red LED.  Samsung runs the red LED out of spec to get a more crisp image.  (This can be noted because the only LED with its own fan).\r\n\r\nI decided to purchase the part and repair my TV myself.  \r\n\r\nI have documented the repair of my Samsung HL-T5087SA red LED failure.  \r\n\r\n\r\n.. image:: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_XgJukboDK5Q/TDi9fv7NZSI/AAAAAAAAAFg/XV923XWZ_pU/IMGA0089.JPG\r\n :alt: Light engine\r\n\r\n**Modular Light Engine**\r\n\r\n\r\n * Red LED Part number `BP07-00029A <http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?BP07-00023A>`_\r\n\r\nPhotos of the repair\r\n========================\r\n\r\n* Photos of the `repair <http://picasaweb.google.com/115572832459434553287/SamsungHLT5087SA?feat=directlink>`_ with captions!", "source_format": "rst", "revision_number": 7, "created": 1284212417000}}
