Boot to flash drive and install ubuntu to local harddrive.\r\n\r\nMiscellaneous Thoughts\r\n--------------------------\r\n\r\nThis section documents some other things I encountered and thought about when configuring the nT330i.\r\n\r\nHow to enable HD video\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nI had to manually install nvidia-185 driver from Synaptic. \r\n\r\n  **System > Administration > Synaptic** \r\n\r\nSearch for nvidia and install it and any dependent packages. \r\n\r\nOnce the driver is installed click:\r\n\r\n **System > Administration > Hardware Drivers**\r\n\r\nRun a scan and enable 3d support.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTrick for full screen flash, youtube, and hulu. \r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nI found that the video quality was poor when I full screened hulu.  I could almost see the video scanning.  \r\n\r\nAfter wasting time with different flash versions I found an trick.  Instead of using full screen I used compiz enhanced zoom.\r\n\r\nThe compiz enhanced zoom cleans the image up really well and gets rid of the scanning / strobing.  Give it a shot!\r\n\r\nHold down the super key and click down the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) and drag a square on the screen you would like to be zoomed into.  When you are finished you may hold the super key again and use the wheel to scroll back to normal size.  \r\n\r\nYou can hold super and 'r' to zoom a window too, great for when I play starcraft in wine window mode.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPleasant surprises\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\n* VERY small computer. Very thin.  Smaller then most personal routers.\r\n* Structure \"feels\" strong and expensive. The engineering is amazing.\r\n* 6 USB 2.0 ports.\r\n* Wifi or rj45 connections.\r\n* Memory card drive on front, MS/SD/MMC\r\n* Dual Core and hyper threading! (looks like 4 cores)\r\n* Hdmi OUT! (Audio and Video sent to the TV over one wire!)\r\n* The video card 3d graphics are amazing for a little unit. (Compiz Cube, lots of eye candy turned on!)\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPower Consumption\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nThe nT330i is a green computer, don't feel guilty leaving it on!  \r\n\r\nI used the kilowatt meter to find the following energy consumptions:\r\n\r\n * IDLE approx 15watts\r\n * LOAD approx 30watts \r\n\r\n\r\nnT330i Hardware Drivers\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\n If you are having trouble finding the official drivers for nT330i please refer to the `Foxconn Driver Page <http://www.foxconnsupport.com/download.aspx>`_.\r\n\r\nCurrent status\r\n==================\r\n\r\n I get 1080p resolution out to the television but I'm having overscan trouble. Remove hardware from the box.\r\n#. Remove 4 screws from the computers chassis.\r\n#. Remove side cover.\r\n    * This step was very difficult, I used a thin screw driver and slowly pried. I worked my way around the case.\r\n\r\n#. Remove the 4 screws on the harddrive bracket.\r\n#. Place harddrive into bracket and screw in in with supplied screws.\r\n    * The bracket has a peg on one of the corners and forces you to insert the drive in that angle first.\r\n\r\n#. Place drive and bracket into place on the motherboard and slide its connection into the SATA header.\r\n#. Screw the bracket back into the chassis / motherboard.\r\n#. Install the ram.\r\n    * Ram inserts on a slight angle, slide the contacts all the way in.  Gingerly press down on the stick to lock into place.\r\n\r\n#. Replace side of case. Boot to flash drive and install ubuntu to local harddrive.\r\n\r\nMiscellaneous Thoughts\r\n--------------------------\r\n\r\nThis section documents some other things I encountered and thought about when configuring the nT330i.\r\n\r\nHow to enable HD video\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nI had to manually install nvidia-185 driver from Synaptic. \r\n\r\n  **System > Administration > Synaptic** \r\n\r\nSearch for nvidia and install it and any dependent packages. \r\n\r\nOnce the driver is installed click:\r\n\r\n **System > Administration > Hardware Drivers**\r\n\r\nRun a scan and enable 3d support.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTrick for full screen flash, youtube, and hulu. \r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nI found that the video quality was poor when I full screened hulu.  I could almost see the video scanning.  \r\n\r\nAfter wasting time with different flash versions I found an trick.  Instead of using full screen I used compiz enhanced zoom.\r\n\r\nThe compiz enhanced zoom cleans the image up really well and gets rid of the scanning / strobing.  Give it a shot!\r\n\r\nHold down the super key and click down the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) and drag a square on the screen you would like to be zoomed into.  When you are finished you may hold the super key again and use the wheel to scroll back to normal size.  \r\n\r\nYou can hold super and 'r' to zoom a window too, great for when I play starcraft in wine window mode.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPleasant surprises\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\n* VERY small computer. Very thin.  Smaller then most personal routers.\r\n* Structure \"feels\" strong and expensive. The engineering is amazing.\r\n* 6 USB 2.0 ports.\r\n* Wifi or rj45 connections.\r\n* Memory card drive on front, MS/SD/MMC\r\n* Dual Core and hyper threading! (looks like 4 cores)\r\n* Hdmi OUT! (Audio and Video sent to the TV over one wire!)\r\n* The video card 3d graphics are amazing for a little unit. (Compiz Cube, lots of eye candy turned on!)\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPower Consumption\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\nThe nT330i is a green computer, don't feel guilty leaving it on!  \r\n\r\nI used the kilowatt meter to find the following energy consumptions:\r\n\r\n * IDLE approx 15watts\r\n * LOAD approx 30watts \r\n\r\n\r\nnT330i Hardware Drivers\r\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\r\n\r\n If you are having trouble finding the official drivers for nT330i please refer to the `Foxconn Driver Page <http://www.foxconnsupport.com/download.aspx>`_.\r\n\r\nCurrent status\r\n==================\r\n\r\n I get 1080p resolution out to the television but I'm having overscan trouble.
